🌶️ WHAT IS MORENA MÍA ?

Puebla met Guadalajara. They fell in love.
Now we’re here in Montreal, offering you an authentic Mexican food experience — one rooted in tradition, love, and flavor.
Morena Mía is a queer and immigrant-owned casual Mexican eatery by day, serving dishes that will either remind you of home or transport you somewhere new. By night, we host special experiences that take you on a journey through Mexico’s rich and diverse culinary history.
And always — every dish, every drink — is made using fresh, locally sourced Quebec ingredients. Our food may be Mexican, but it’s grounded in the terroir of this new home we’re learning to love.
🫶 WHO ARE WE ?
We’re Eliana and Isabel, a queer married couple. Eliana is from Puebla, with roots in Oaxaca; Isabel is from Guadalajara, Jalisco.
We’re not chefs — and we wouldn’t pretend to be. We’re cocineras. And that means something deeper.
Our recipes weren’t learned in school. They were passed down in kitchens, taught by our mothers, our tías, our abuelas. They were born from memory, shaped by fire, and refined in the restaurants we ran back in Mexico.
Our food is tradition. It’s legacy. It’s soul. But here in Quebec, it’s also adaptation. We cook with ingredients sourced from local farms, markets, and producers— blending our roots with the richness of this land.
In 2018, we fell in love.
In 2022, we got married.
In 2023, we came to Quebec chasing a better, safer life.
In 2025, we opened Morena Mía.
And now, we’ve set our sights on something big:
To be the best taquería in Montreal.
We know it’s ambitious — there are amazing Mexican restaurants here. But we don’t just want to serve food. We want to share our story. And invite you to be part of it.
